![]() With this easy 3D design tutorial (including a video option, if you prefer it) we will create an abstract 3D illustration using Adobe Photoshop and Dimension. In this tutorial, we will show step-by-step how to take your own designs and finally break into the wonderful world of 3D design. Designers wrote us asking how we turned the flat illustrations into 3D, and we were thrilled to realize we could easily teach them. We were both impressed and excited with the results, and so was our audience. We began experimenting with Dimension's rendering tools and Photoshop's built-in 3D features to see how we could take these illustrations out of the two-dimensional world and into the dimensional space. This was our first deep dive into Dimension. Our team at recently released Warped Universe, a collection of abstract illustrations creatives to for their work. Originally created for 3D mockups and brand visualizations, Dimension has evolved into a powerful 3D rendering tool that allows you to create rich 3D visuals. With Adobe Dimension, Adobe has removed the barriers (real or imagined) between designers and 3D design. ![]() Until a couple months ago, I'd see an artistic or hyperrealistic 3D image in someone's portfolio and couldn't fathom how they even began to create something like it. Only designers who have dedicated years of their life to the trade can master the complex tools and techniques required for it, or so we tell ourselves. Yet for many of us, it still seems daunting and inaccessible. In recent years, more designers are seeking to break into 3D design and more clients are asking for it. Little known to most of us, Adobe has been quietly changing that story. In our minds, it's a landscape marked with steep learning curves, expensive software and overwhelming interfaces. As it happens with advanced 3D renderers, its resource requirements are high, so please take a look at the prerequisites before installing the application on your PC.For many creative folks, 3D design is still considered a final frontier. Adobe-signed 3D designer with high requirementsĪdobe Dimension relies on a first-class rendering engine and machine learning algorithms to create 3D imagery while maintaining a familiar working environment and an intuitive toolset. Using specific algorithms, the application can determine what is the best lighting for a particular scene. Dimension is capable of detecting the light source in the background image and automatically configures the environment light for each object, changes the camera perspective, modifies the aspect ratio, and performs other similar adjustments to create a perfect match. One of the Dimension's utmost features is the automatic matching of backgrounds and images. Furthermore, you can try out various perspective manipulation tools and layouts, but angles and orientations of all the objects on the canvas as the camera moves around. In other words, Dimension can detect the position of objects with respect to the horizon. In an attempt to help you see how your design concept will look like in real life, Adobe Dimension delivers realistic 3D surfaces you can place objects on. Automatic image matching and integrated 3D surfaces The material library is generous as well and, since light is a vital part of 3D designing, Adobe Dimension also sports different lighting systems you can opt for. The built-in object library comprises all kinds of 3D shapes and predefined models you can insert into your design, but keep in mind that the Adobe Stock library can be accessed from within the application, and dozens of free objects are available there as well. If you have used Adobe-signed products in the past, the working environment and the array of tools in Adobe Dimension might seem familiar. Enjoy hundreds of models, lights, and 3D objects Relying on the top-notch graphics technology in the V-Ray rendering engine and machine learning algorithms, Dimension manages to generate high-quality scenery, which makes it perfect for product close-ups, abstract art, and 3D scenes. Adobe Dimension replaces Project Felix, providing graphic designers with a powerful 3D designer and rendering tool.
